I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your despatch of 29th Jan last, forwarding a letter from the General Officer Commanding relative to the Hong Kong Defence Scheme and to enclose for the information of your Government copies of Remarks by the Colonial Defence Committee thereon, in which the Secretary of State for War and the Lords Commissioners of the Admiralty have expressed their concurrence, together with printed copies of your despatch under acknowledgment.
Copies of these Remarks have been communicated to the Commander-in-Chief on the Station, and the enclosed copies should be distributed in the same manner as those documents referred to in your despatch of 3rd August last.
